A Real Man

What is a man? I have always been taught that a real man will readily lay down his life for a woman or child. Yet our new President-elect believes that it is a "fundamental right" to cause an "unwanted" down syndrome infant to die a miserable and lonely death inside a linen closet.

So tell me, what exactly is the job of the President? Is it to pay my mortgage? Is it to make sure my health benefit package matches that of my neighbor's? Is it to bail me out of financial crisis? Is it to raise my children?

It is the President's job to protect the citizens. If he refuses to protect an innocent handicapped child...then who will he protect?

I am disgusted and ashamed of the "men" who let our country get to this point. We, America, have elected a guy who would take money from one and give it to another, allow the murder of children, and call a baby a "punishment" for a "mistake made". I'm utterly shocked that a generation of "men" would stand in a crowd with a million others chanting for the Great Obama to give them a hand out. It is clear in Scripture that a man who does not work shall not eat, and that a man who does not provide for his family is worse than an infidel (i.e. unbeliever).

1 Tim 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

2 Thess 3:10 For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.

I do thank God for the true real men in the world. Those men who love God, work hard, provide for their families, raise their children, and fight for our freedom. Those who would give up their own comfort, and even their own lives, for a woman or child if it came down to it. Those who stand for the lives of the most innocent. These men are few and far between, and I am thankful for them. I am honored and blessed to know many of these wonderful men. America needs more real men.

I'm praying that God will raise up a generation of young men who know that to eat, you work. To be free and safe, you fight. And a man lays down his life to protect a child. I know this is possible, and I plan to help- starting with my own brother. As much as we need men, we need women who will stop trying to be men, and instead start to raise them.

Let's start now, and pray that in 2012 and the other elections to come there will be real men to vote for. God, preserve for us another generation- a generation of real women and real men.

Blog Give Away

Bloggy Giveaways Quarterly Carnival Button

Alright...I'm a little late but I'm gonna go ahead and do a bloggy giveaway with the blog carnival: http://www.donttryit.com/bloggy_giveaways/2008/10/bloggy-giveaw-1.html

I'll be giving away a new copy of the book Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris. I was blessed by reading this book, and by attending the conference. This book is written specifically for teens, but I think just about anyone can learn from it. It's about teens rising up and exceeding the expectations of our society- for the glory of God. The authors started The Rebelution- a teenage rebellion against low expectations. You can go to their site to read more about it: http://www.therebelution.com/

To enter the giveaway simply leave a comment and explain why you'd like to have this book. Please be sure that there is either a link to your blog, or that you leave your e-mail address. This is only for residents of the lower 48 states. Thanks!! :) I will randomly pick a winner on Saturday, November 1st. I will contact the winner and post their name on my blog.

The Rat Boys in their Hammocks!

I just finished up a new hammock/carpet set for each of my boys. I thought I'd take some pictures of them enjoying their new hammocks:

Zeb didn't seem too interested in getting his picture taken.
He snored away, curled up with his nest
of cardboard and paper towels.
Donny gave me a smile!

Sarah Palin Rally

Last night at the last possible minute my friends gave me
a ticket to the Sarah Palin rally!!!! I was so thankful because
I was sure I wasn't going to be able to get a ticket. We had a great time!

Sarah Palin with her daughters Willow and Piper, and her husband Todd. Hank Williams Jr. was there too. He sang his "McCain-Palin Tradition". It's hilarious!
They're building a new motel right next the the event center. This sign kept blowing, and then it would only say "Obama". The the construction guys would run up there and fix it, and the whole line of people would cheer!!! It was so fun, even when we were freezing in line for 2 hours!

Marilyn Musgrave, Wayne Allard, and Bob Schaffer were also there to speak. It was a great day. : )

The Real World

Can someone please explain to me what "the real world" means? Because, from what I can see the "real world" does not equal a brick building. Unless you work in a brick building. Then the real world does, of course, include one.

However, when you're in said brick building and you have a question...do you raise your hand? Do you carry a hall pass if you need to use the restroom? To leave one room and go into another, do you wait until you hear a bell? When you look around, do you see that an overwhelming majority of the people near you are exactly your age (give or take a few months)? When you do something good, do you get a gold star? Do you stand in a straight line as you move through the hallway?

If what I have described above is the "real world", then I say "no thank you". I'd rather not be part of it.

I'm a Christian first, but I love the fact that I'm also a homeschooler (I'm not technically homeschooled now, because I've graduated, but it's very much a part of who I am.) I can't tell you how many times my siblings and I have been asked about the "real world". It's an annoying question to answer because it's so silly. In response I usually ask for a definition. But I think homeschoolers wouldn't have to answer this question so much if people would first just think about what they're about to ask.

So tell me, what is your definition of "the real world"?
