2009

The Trujillos have been blessed with yet another wonderful year. God is good. Please know that we thank our God at every remembrance of you. (Phil. 1:3)
2009 has been an eventful and exciting year. From seeing Tim Hawkins live, to marching with crowds of TEA Party protesters, our family has been busy. We enjoyed a visit from my mom’s parents in September. We don’t get to see them nearly as much as we would like to, so this time together was greatly cherished. The Trujillo ladies spent a weekend in Estes Park, touring the Haunted Stanley Hotel. (although the Super 8 we stayed in was just as creepy!) The men had their fun hunting once again this year. They love the time spent together in the creation. Sarah and I spent two weeks counseling at Kamp Koinonia in the summer. My dad and Karl joined us for the second week- dad as a teacher and counselor and Karl as a camper. Three of us met Joe the Plumber at a TEA Party rally this year! Fellowship with our church family, homeschooling, football and basketball games, and discussions solving the world’s problems were also a large part of our year. And we only had to call the police to our house one time in 2009!

Marty (aka Dad) worked hard in our community/church garden all summer. This resulted in a fantastic harvest of sweet corn, tomatoes, pumpkins, zucchini, and lots of other tasty veggies! He spent a week in Arizona with his mom, sister, and brother-in-law. While we shivered in Colorado, he enjoyed palm trees and 80 degree weather! Of course he kept busy visiting with church members, studying for sermons, keeping bees, messing around in his “blow away shed”, and teaching Karl Greek and American History.

Allie (aka Mom) continues to enjoy her job at the post office and her time teaching Karl. The visit from her parents this summer was especially nice for her. Her Grandma Kay also came to visit! The doll collection continues to grow. We are very thankful for our mom, and her dedication to being a keeper at home. Mom is so thankful that her whole family is still living at home, so that we can enjoy the time spent together.

Sarah turned 20 this year! I, with lots of help from the rest of the family, and friends, was able to pull off a surprise birthday party! And she really was surprised when she walked in to find people from all areas of her life in the same room! On a not-so-positive note, Sarah was in a car accident that totaled her 1996 Pontiac Sunfire. However, she is now the proud owner of a 2004 Hyundai Elantra. Maybe one of the biggest highlights of Sarah’s year was a visit from her sister Amber, her brother-in-law Phil, and their three kids. She was able to spend a lot of time with them over the few days they were in town. Sarah continues to teach Bible class every week and work with the treasury and enjoys her job in the Sather’s Jewelers office.

Miranda, yours truly, had an interesting year with a lot of “new” things. For example, I am now driving my “new” old car (although I prefer “classic”). It’s a 1985 Ford Tempo in excellent condition and I couldn’t be any more happy with it! Also, after searching for a few months, I was blessed with two new jobs in February. The first was a job as a lunch lady sub and the second was as a Party Coordinator at Pump It Up. Both jobs have been wonderful. I was moved up to Shift Manager at Pump It Up over the summer, and have just recently quit the job as a lunch lady. I’ll miss it, but I’m enjoying spending more time at the Inflatable Party Zone, working on marketing in addition to managing. In February I officially became Miranda Trujillo, Master Herbalist! Since then I have been making and selling my own remedies, which can now be found at Copoco’s Honey, a local beekeeper’s shop. “Randi’s Remedies” can also be found at www.copocoshoney.com . Last but not least, I was able to spend some time in Indiana last summer with my grandparents. I love the church family there, and the little town of Wheatfield where I can walk anywhere I need to go. I had a blast doing photo shoots with my cousins (who are some of my best friends) Joanna, Emily, and Abby.

Karl started on CLP Jr. High’s Varsity basketball team at the beginning of the year. More recently he started on Poudre Highschool’s Freshman football team and even more recently made Poudre’s Sophomore basketball team! As I am writing this, they have had one loss and one win. Karl is always encouraged by our friend Chuck, who makes it to every game! We had a scare at the beginning of the football season. While Karl was headed to Denver with his team he went into Anaphylactic Shock due to an unknown pineapple allergy. Needless to say, we are much more careful what we feed him these days (which is quite a task, you would understand if you knew how much he eats.) In addition to this scare, Karl sustained a ripped off fingernail, bit into tongue, and broken pinky throughout his sports seasons this year. Some of the newest news about Karl is that he is now employed at Pump it Up as a Party Attendant, which technically makes me his boss. He continues to enjoy air soft wars with friends, and his trading card business.

We hope 2010 will be a great year for you!
